Alpesh is the scientific grants officer for Animal Free Research UK (AFR UK), responsible for managing and maintaining AFR UK’s research grants portfolio. He represents AFR UK at external stakeholder and supporter meetings and his work involves understanding and aiding the dissemination of all of AFR UK’s scientific research outcomes. Before joining AFR UK, Alpesh completed his PhD in Biochemistry from King’s College London, investigating the mechanism of action that causes the disease Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome.
His talk will introduce Animal Free Research UK (AFR UK) and its mission, ethos and values. Why AFR UK funds the development and application of human models for human diseases. How AFR-UK aims to benefit humans through the development of more relevant and reliable science whilst replacing the use of animals and how we meet those objectives through our projects.
