Saturday 22nd / James O’Donovan: Vegan Sustainability, Exploring the transformational potential of vegan agriculture on climate change and biodiversity loss and how to get there.

This talk will highlight the impacts of animal agriculture, globally and in Ireland, on biodiversity loss, climate change and ocean ecosystems.  It will also show how a transition to a vegan food system can reduce global farmland by more than 75% – an area equivalent to the US, China, the European Union and Australia combined – and still feed the world.  The talk will also show how a vegan agricultural system can reverse climate change and why beef and dairy grazing systems are inherently unsustainable.
