Biography

Bernie Wright went vegan in 1989 having met people from the AFAR, Alliance for Animal Rights (AFAR) group in Dublin. AFAR covers all rights issues and is also a sister group to The Association of Hunt Saboteurs (AOHS) which Bernie started in 1990. AFAR has promoted veganism since 1989 and started the AR tables at the Bank of Ireland that still survive today as VIP and VEGO.

Bernie is involved also in The Animal Crimes Register website, a compilation of animal related Prosecutions and Food Not Bombs Dublin County.

Bernie ran a street dog rescue in Kathmandu Nepal called Street Dogs of Nepal for 7 years. She rescued Greyhounds for 30 years and other Irish strays with Chy Dog Rescue. She now concentrates mainly on campaigning. She’s currently organising two demonstrations at Shelbourne Park dog track among others to end Dog Racing completely.

Vegan since 1989, 66-year old Bernie now feels that vegan is the only way to be.
