Dr Sean Owens is a pharmacist and doctor with an interest in nutrition, metabolic health and lifestyle medicine. Hailing from County Down N.Ireland, Sean initially studied pharmacy at Queens University Belfast before relocating to Dublin to practice community pharmacy in 2005. In 2010 Sean elected to study graduate entry medicine in UCD Dublin, 2010-2014, and in 2012 he was selected to investigate Triple Negative Breast Cancer at Emory University, Atlanta Georgia. Sean is currently in his final year of General Practitioner training, working in inner city Dublin where he works with outreach and homeless services.
Sean is representing a team of concerned Irish health care professionals who wish to promote the benefits of a whole food plant based diet via education. His talk “Plant Based Medicine In Ireland: Challenges And Opportunities” will assess the current state of Irish health, how a whole-food plant based diet is an underutilized solution and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
