Evelyn Suttle is an animal rights, human rights and environmental activist. She runs the blog Veghuns as well as producing artwork for he Art of Compassion Project, the Creative Earth Project and volunteering with the National Animal Rights Association, Food Not Bombs homeless outreach and Dogs Aid Animal Sanctuary.
Martha Dalton has a BA in History and an M.Phil in Medieval History. Her research has generally focused on the treatment of gender and women in medieval texts, and this has often meant talking about women’s relationship with nature and the natural environment. She considers herself a very eco-centric person both in her worldview and her behaviours, and she has been vegan for five years.
Evelyn and Martha met through work and immediately bonded over a love of veganism, social justice, and history. Their talk on Sunday 29th will cover a broad range of their varied historical interests, from medieval saints to suffragettes, and do so through the lens of modern ecofeminist veganism. They hope that the talk will get people thinking about the value of history and how looking at the struggles of the past can inform our actions today.
