Spotlight on Climate Justice at Vegfest.

Dublin Vegfest will highlight Climate Justice over the weekend of 24th and 25th September. Moreover, we will focus on Climate action through veganism. And making positive changes in our daily lives as well as working collectively for a livable future. Speakers will dive into the issues to share hope and strategies for attendees to takeaway because…
Meat and dairy drives emissions.

Talking openly about Ireland’s record on Climate is more urgent than ever. As per the recent Central Statistics Office report Ireland ranked as the second highest greenhouse gas emitter in the EU. Animal agriculture, beef and dairy production is responsible for a shocking 35% of the country’s total emissions. And that’s 15% more than all transport use. Furthermore, Ireland ranks forth lowest of all the 27 EU states for biodiversity protection.
Enjoy what veganism has to offer.
“Climate change impacts of the food system will be hard to tackle and likely require more than just technological changes. Adopting healthier and more environmentally sustainable diets can be a large step in the right direction,”- Oxford vegan diet study author Marco Springmann.
Vegan food is Climate positive. Eating vegan contributes the least emissions. And Vegfest is a place for anyone that cares about our planet and its inhabitants. But you don’t need to be vegan to take part! Think of Vegfest as a vegan island within Ireland. Where you get to taste, try and learn new things. Alongside our Climate events the Vegan Food Village will run all day offering a huge spread of tasty cuisines to enjoy and from Ireland’s best vegan vendors. You can also meet local independent producers and sample their vegan products. Or take in a food demonstration by Ireland’s favourite vegan chefs as well as attend talks on nutrition and health or Animal Rights among a super friendly gathering that welcomes everyone.

Diversity means stronger together.
We need a just transition away from food systems that are destroying our planet, exploiting workers and using up the lives of 10’s of billions of animals every year to sustainable veganic food production. Climate Justice includes many diverse campaigns and projects’ acting in unity. We are inspired by movements like Fridays For Future started by vegan activist Greta Thunberg and the Indigenous activists working tirelessly to protect our world. At Vegfest local organisations like Animal Rebellion will feature over the weekend. We believe that with support and cooperation individuals and groups can adopt veganism to build Climate Justice actions in to their daily lives. Actions that are good for people, animals and our planet. And that’s something to celebrate.
Vegfest happens on 24th and 25th 11 am – 6 pm, September, Leinster Cricket Club, Rathmines, Dublin 6.
